Place value to 1,000, column addition and subtraction, the 3, 4 and 8 times tables, tenths, right angles, and reading bar charts and pictograms.
What Year 3 covers
- Place value in three digit numbers, and comparing and ordering numbers to 1,000
- Column addition and subtraction with up to three digits
- The 3, 4 and 8 times tables, and the division facts that go with them
- Counting in tenths, and adding and subtracting fractions with the same denominator
- Right angles and turns, and naming 2D and 3D shapes
- Reading bar charts, pictograms and tables, and answering questions from them
The Key Stage 2 tests are sat in the May of Year 6, so a Year 3 child has 3 more school years before the papers. Everything here is groundwork the later years lean on.
