Yes. SHLC teaches 11+ maths online, one to one, from Year 4. Your child has a weekly lesson with Aadam Mulla, a qualified maths teacher, and you get a written note after every lesson. Year 4 is spent on foundations, Year 5 on the 11+ topics, and exam papers start by Easter of Year 5. Lessons are £270 a month for four 60 minute lessons or £220 for 45 minutes, and the starting check is free: the Maths Level Finder plus a 15 minute call. 25+ children have been offered grammar and independent school places since 2021.

Most families start at the beginning of Year 4, which gives two full years before the exam in September of Year 6. Starting in Year 3 or Year 4 means the foundations are built first, Year 5 is spent on the 11+ topics, and exam practice starts by Easter of Year 5. A child who is confident in class can start in September of Year 5: basics until December, the 11+ topics until the summer, then exam papers over the summer holidays. If times tables or basic arithmetic still wobble, start by the end of Year 3.

Non-verbal reasoning is taught as a set of rules your child learns to spot, with free games to practise between lessons. You can add a non-verbal reasoning session alongside maths for £60 a month.

Yes. Lessons use the question styles of your child's target exam, and the free practice papers in our library cover GL, CEM and school entrance papers.

Yes. SHLC is based in Heckmondwike, and Aadam sat the Heckmondwike Grammar entrance exam himself. Heckmondwike, Crossley Heath, North Halifax, Ermysted’s and Skipton Girls’ all use the FSCE test, and Leeds families usually apply to these schools because Leeds has no state grammars.
