11+ Maths Topic Checklist, Skill Checklist & Progress Tracker (Free PDF)
Three tools in one free download. Every topic your child needs for 11+ Maths, every skill inside those topics, and a tracker that puts all 80 lessons in the order we teach them.
About this download
There is no single published 11+ Maths syllabus. Different schools set different papers, so most families end up guessing at what to revise and finding the gaps far too late. This download replaces the guesswork with a list.
The checklist sets out 38 topics, split into Foundation, Core and Extended so you know what to prioritise. Foundation skills are the non-negotiables for every child. Core is what most selective and grammar schools expect. Extended is for the most competitive papers. Inside those topics sit 112 individual skills, each with its own tick box, so progress is measured on what your child can actually do rather than on a topic name.
The Maths Progress Tracker then takes the same ground and puts it in teaching order, numbered 1 to 80 across 15 colour-coded blocks. Find the last topic your child is genuinely confident with, start at the next number down, and work in order. Every lesson assumes the ones above it, which is exactly where skipped steps come back to bite.
Those 80 numbers are not arbitrary. Each one matches a lesson in the Maths Mastery Lessons library, so the moment you spot a gap you can go straight to the lesson that fixes it. Nothing here depends on that though. Both sheets work on their own with any textbook, tutor or past paper.
Tick a skill only when your child can do it without help, not once with you sat next to them. Go back to a ticked skill a fortnight later and try one question. If it has gone, rub the tick out and go again. That is the difference between a topic being covered and a topic being learned.
Who this is for
Families preparing for 11+ entry to a selective, grammar or independent school, usually in Year 4 or Year 5. It works just as well for KS2 SATs revision and for the start of GCSE, because the tracker covers the same ground in the same order.
What's included
The 11+ Maths Topic Checklist
38 topics across number, algebra, geometry, data and problem solving, each labelled Foundation, Core or Extended. High-priority topics are flagged so you can weight your time.
The skill checklist
112 named skills sitting inside those topics, from reading numbers to a billion up to simultaneous equations, each with a tick box. Tick a skill only when your child can do it without help.
The Maths Progress Tracker
All 80 lessons across 15 colour-coded blocks, in the exact order we teach them, with a tick box per lesson and a date line at the end of every block. Made to go on the fridge.
Three levels on every topic
Foundation is the non-negotiable ground for every child, Core is what most selective schools expect, Extended is for the most competitive papers.
A running order, not just a list
Every unticked skill points at a numbered lesson, so the next step is never a guess.
Dates built in
A date line at the end of each block turns finishing a bundle into a visible milestone.
How it works
Download and print both sheets
The checklist is A4 portrait and the tracker is A4 landscape. Put the checklist in a folder and the tracker somewhere your child will see it.
Work through Foundation first
Tick a skill only when your child can do it without help, not once with you sat next to them. Foundation must be secure before Core is worth starting.
Turn the gaps into a running order
Every unticked skill maps onto a numbered lesson on the tracker. Start at the lowest number your child cannot do and work down from there.
Date each block as you finish it
Each colour block on the tracker is one bundle of lessons. Finishing a block is a real milestone, so date it and make a fuss of it.
Go back two weeks later
Return to a ticked skill after a fortnight and try one question. If it has gone, rub the tick out and go again. That is the difference between covered and learned.

FAQs
What is the difference between the checklist and the tracker?
The checklist answers what your child needs to know, grouped by topic and sorted into Foundation, Core and Extended. The tracker answers what to do next, with the same ground laid out as 80 numbered lessons in teaching order.
Do I have to buy the lessons to use these?
No. Both sheets work on their own with any textbook, tutor or past paper. The lesson numbers line up with the Maths Mastery Lessons if you want a ready-made lesson for each step, but nothing here depends on that.
Does this cover every school's 11+ paper?
No checklist can. Different schools set different papers and the topics vary. This covers the ground that comes up most often across selective school papers in England, and it is not exhaustive, so always check the guidance for the schools you are applying to.
What year should my child be in to use this?
Most children sit the 11+ in September or October of Year 6, so preparation usually starts in Year 5 or early Year 6. Both sheets work at any stage.
My child is struggling with several topics. What should I do?
A Diagnostic Assessment is the fastest way to see where the gaps are and how to fix them. It is a one-off session with Aadam, followed by a written report and a recommended plan.
