About this lesson
By the end of this lesson your child can read, write and compare any number up to a million, say what each digit is worth, use zero to hold an empty column, and know why three hundred thousand and seven is 300,007 and not 300,700. Five and six digit numbers are where reading a number stops being something a child does at a glance and starts being something they have to count their way through.

- The five columns to 100,000, partitioning a five-digit number and saying what each digit is worth
- Reading and writing five-digit numbers, splitting at the comma, for example 42,316 as forty two thousand three hundred and sixteen
