About this lesson
Most worksheets test multiplying and dividing fractions in isolation, one skill at a time. Exam papers never do. They mix whole numbers, mixed numbers and cross-cancelling into the same question, and that's exactly where marks get lost.

The step most students skip: cross-cancelling common factors before multiplying. Skip it and a fraction like 3/8 × 4/9 turns into an ugly fraction that still needs simplifying at the end. This lesson teaches cross-cancelling as its own unit, so it becomes automatic once whole numbers and mixed numbers make the questions harder.
