What This Programme Covers

Most 11+ exams test four areas: Maths, English, Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning. This programme covers all of them in one joined-up plan, built around your child's target schools and the specific papers they will sit.

If your child's target school uses the FSCE format, the programme is adjusted accordingly. FSCE does not include standalone VR or NVR papers. Instead it tests Maths, English and Creative Writing, with an emphasis on applying knowledge rather than drilling question types. We build the programme around what your target schools actually test, not a generic 11+ template.

Most families start 12 to 18 months before the exam. The earlier you begin, the more time there is to build the knowledge properly rather than cramming it at the end. Book a free consultation and we will give you an honest view of what is realistic for your child's situation.

🔢 Maths Number, algebra, shape, data and problem solving
📖 English Comprehension, creative writing and grammar
🔤 Verbal Reasoning Word patterns, analogies and language logic
🔷 Non-Verbal Reasoning Spatial reasoning, patterns and sequences

How the Programme Works

1 Free consultation to agree the plan

Before the programme starts, we have a free 10-minute call to understand your child's current level, target schools and exam date. This shapes the long-term plan and the order in which subjects are prioritised across the first few months.

2 Weekly sessions across all four subjects

Sessions run online via Google Meet. The balance between subjects shifts across the programme depending on where your child is and what needs the most attention at each stage. The plan is reviewed each month and adjusted if needed.

3 Monthly written progress reports

Every month you receive a written report covering what has been taught, where your child stands across each subject, and the focus for the coming month. Reports are written clearly for parents, not just students.

4 Timed paper practice in the final stage

In the months before the exam, sessions shift to full past paper practice under timed conditions. Exam technique, time management and handling difficult questions are all built into this stage.

Common Questions

When should we start?

Most families start 12 to 18 months before the exam date. Starting earlier gives more time to build knowledge properly rather than rushing through content in the final months. If your timeline is shorter, book a free consultation and we will give you an honest view of what is achievable.

Which exam boards and schools does this cover?

GL Assessment, CEM, FSCE and school-set papers. The programme is built around the specific requirements of your target schools. If your child is applying to an FSCE school, the programme is adjusted to match that format: FSCE tests Maths, English and Creative Writing rather than standalone VR and NVR papers, and it changes format each year so preparation focuses on applying knowledge and developing creative thinking rather than drilling past papers. Grammar schools in West Yorkshire using FSCE include Heckmondwike Grammar, North Halifax Grammar and Crossley Heath. Confirm which schools you are targeting at the consultation and we build the content accordingly.

My child's school uses FSCE — is this programme still suitable?

Yes. FSCE schools are a growing number of grammar schools that have moved away from GL Assessment and CEM. The FSCE exam focuses on Maths, English and Creative Writing and does not include standalone VR or NVR papers. Because FSCE does not publish past papers and changes format each year, preparation focuses on building strong subject knowledge, creative writing ability and problem-solving skills rather than drilling specific question types. We adjust the programme content and approach for FSCE schools at the start. If you are targeting Heckmondwike Grammar, North Halifax Grammar, Crossley Heath or another FSCE school, mention this at the free consultation and we will build the plan accordingly.

The 11+ Subject Programme covers either Maths and NVR, or English and VR, at £250 per month. Choose which combination suits your child's needs at booking.

How are sessions structured across the four subjects?

The balance between subjects shifts across the programme depending on your child's starting point and how much time remains before the exam. Early on, more time goes into building the foundational knowledge in weaker areas. As the exam approaches, sessions shift toward timed paper practice and exam technique across all four subjects.

Is there a minimum commitment?

No minimum contract. The programme runs on monthly billing and you can cancel with one month's notice. That said, 11+ preparation takes time and results improve significantly with a longer lead-in, so we recommend committing to the full timeline agreed at consultation.

What happens in the monthly progress reports?

Each report covers what was taught that month, your child's current level across each of the four subjects, any patterns or concerns identified, and the plan for the following month. Reports are emailed directly to parents.
