Aadam Mulla | Online Maths Tutor | GCSE, SATS and 11+ | Unique and Experienced Teacher
Qualified maths teacher, founder of SHLC Tutor, and the person 120+ families call when "doing fine" isn't good enough.
*Individual student results. Outcomes vary based on starting point, effort, and time invested.
I'm a qualified maths teacher with a Master's in Education, QTS, and enhanced DBS clearance. Five years in mainstream schools, then 3,000+ hours of one-to-one tutoring with students all over the world. I've been running SHLC Tutor since 2020.
Why parents choose me
Most parents who find me already know their child is capable of more. They've seen the spark. They've also seen a few terms of "yeah, it's going well" feedback that doesn't quite match the report card.
So they want someone who'll be straight with them. What's actually going on, what we're going to do about it, and how long it'll take. That's what I do.
I'm not a student that's tutoring on the side and figuring it out on the go. I've taught full classrooms for years, run teams, studied the psychology of motivation, and worked with hundreds of kids one-to-one. I can usually spot what's holding a student back inside the first session, whether that's a confidence wobble, an exam technique gap, or a foundational topic everyone's quietly been working around.
One thing 11+ parents seem to like:
I went to Heckmondwike Grammar myself. At the time it was ranked 7th in the country, now it's the top-rated school in the North of England. I sat the entrance exam, got in, and made it through. So when I'm prepping your child, I'm working from first hand experience.
And beyond the maths itself, my job is to get your child believing they can do this. Grades follow when that clicks.

Who I work with
Whether your child needs to catch up quickly, hold onto a top set place, or push from a 7 to a 9, every session is built around them.
Qualifications & experience
How I work
Sessions are online, one-to-one, and built around exactly what your child needs that week. Every scholarship and every grade jump above happened over Google Meet.
First session: I figure out where they actually are (not where their school report says they are) and we agree what we're aiming at. From there, every session has a clear focus, gets practised live with me watching, and ends with a short bit of work to lock it in before the next one.
You'll get an honest update after every lesson. What we did, what clicked, what didn't, what's next.
What parents tend to say after a few weeks: their child stops dreading maths homework, starts asking better questions, and begins backing themselves in front of a problem instead of freezing. That's usually when the grades start moving too.
