About this lesson
By the end of this lesson your child can spot lines of symmetry in any shape or letter, reflect a picture across a mirror line, find the order of rotational symmetry, and reflect coordinates and shapes on a grid, and know exactly which method each question needs.

Most activities are click and try. Your child shades a reflection, rotates a shape or plots a point directly on the diagram and finds out straight away if they have got it right. Worked examples reveal one step at a time on click, and practice questions hide their answer until your child checks their own work.
How it's structured:
- Six hands-on Explore tools your child can play with freely, including building a symmetric picture on a grid, spotting the deliberate mistake in a reflection, rotating 12 shapes and letters to find their order of symmetry, and reflecting points and shapes on a coordinate grid
- Two units end with an 8-question test, colour-coded easy, medium and hard, 16 questions in total, each with a click-to-reveal answer and a reveal-all option
- The other two units end with a randomised challenge instead. Shade your own reflection or plot the reflected coordinates yourself, click Check or Reveal, and generate a new question any time
Most symmetry worksheets stop at counting lines on a static picture. This lesson has your child draw the missing half of a reflection, rotate shapes to find the order of symmetry, and plot reflected coordinates themselves, the parts that actually cost marks on the exam paper.
