About this lesson
By the end of this lesson your child can take any short division question, a one digit or a two digit divisor, with or without a remainder, and set it out on the bus stop without losing a column. Division is the written method children reach for last, and on a KS2 or 11+ paper it turns up inside worded questions where the setting out has to be right first time.

- Remainders, and what the leftover means when a number will not share equally
- Short division on the bus stop, where every digit divides exactly
- Exchanging into the next column, and writing the zeros in the answer instead of skipping them
- Four and five digit numbers, with the remainder at the end
- Two digit divisors by listing the multiples first, so 910 ÷ 13 becomes a lookup
- Two digit divisors by splitting them into factors, so 616 ÷ 56 becomes ÷ 8 then ÷ 7
