About this lesson
By the end of this lesson your child can look at any decimal multiplication or division, whole numbers, tenths, hundredths or thousandths, and know exactly where the decimal point belongs. It is a full taught lesson, not a question sheet, and every method is built up one click at a time.
Topics covered:
- Counting decimal places, by underlining every digit after the point and numbering them
- Multiplying decimals, from 3 × 1.4 up to 3.06 × 0.007
- Dividing by a whole number, including answers smaller than 1 such as 4 ÷ 5 = 0.8
- Dividing by a decimal such as 0.3, 0.04 or 0.012, using equivalent fractions
- Decimals in context, area, missing sides, money, best buy, speed and scale
- Recurring decimals, dot notation, and rounding to 2 decimal places
Your child clicks to reveal each line of the worked examples, works the questions on paper, then clicks to check. Every worked example and every question set has a New Questions button, so the lesson can be repeated with fresh numbers as many times as it takes.
How it's structured:
- 13 worked examples clicked through line by line, and 114 practice questions colour coded easy, medium and hard
- Click-to-reveal answers on every question, with a reveal-all option on each page, plus two hands-on tools for moving the decimal point and for turning a division by a decimal into an easier one
- A 20 question mixed challenge at the end, drawing on all five units at once
Two warm-up pages come first, one for column multiplication and one for short division, so a gap in either shows up before the decimals start rather than halfway through. There is also a page on what happens when a division never stops, taught with the repeating remainder circled as it comes back round.
Use this if:
- Your child is in Year 5 to Year 11 and meets decimals in arithmetic, money or measures
- You are preparing for 11+ entrance exams, where non-calculator decimal work comes up every year
- You are revising GCSE Foundation and the decimal point is still costing marks
- You want a resource your child can check their own work with, not one more thing on your to-do list

Aadam, the tutor has a lovely mannerism and has made my daughter feel at ease. He explains the question in a way that she understands and is patient with her. She has already seen the results at school from his help and has gone up two GCSE grades in a short period of time.P. Flower · December 2024

FAQs
How do I access the lesson?
You'll get an email with your lesson link as soon as payment goes through. Click it to open the lesson in any browser, no login and no app to install.
How does the marking work?
There's no typing answers into a box. Your child works it out on paper, then clicks to reveal the correct answer and checks their own work. Full working is shown too, not just the final answer, so mistakes are easy to spot.
Does it work on a phone or tablet?
It works best on a tablet or laptop, where there's more room to read the examples and questions. It'll open on a phone too, but the text and diagrams can feel quite small on a smaller screen.
Can I use the lesson more than once?
Yes. There's no limit on how many times you open the link, so it's there for revision right up to the exam.
What if I lose the link or don't get the email?
