Build Your Own Chess Blunder Clinic
A starter kit that builds a chess trainer from your own chess.com or lichess games. Open it in Claude Code, type start, and Claude walks you through every step. Needs a paid Claude plan with Claude Code and a Mac or Windows laptop.
About this kit
By the end of this you'll have your own chess trainer, built from your own games.
It finds the blunders, missed chances and missed mates in your chess.com or lichess games.
Then it turns them into drills you play on your laptop or phone.
You don't build it alone. You open the starter kit in Claude Code, type start, and Claude walks you through it one step at a time.
It checks each step worked and remembers where you got to, so you can stop and carry on later. No programming knowledge needed.
What you need before you buy
- A paid Claude plan that includes Claude Code (Pro or above). It isn't included in this price. Your Claude usage is shared with everything else you use Claude for, and plans have usage limits.
- A laptop. A Mac (macOS 13 or newer) or a Windows 10 or 11 PC. You build it on the laptop. A phone is optional, for using it afterwards.
- A chess.com or lichess account with at least 30 games in one time control. Rapid works best.
- About 2 hours the first time. Most of that is waiting while Stockfish checks your games, and an older laptop can take twice as long. After that, about 20 minutes a week.
- Python and Stockfish. Both are free, and Claude installs them with you. Claude Code asks before it runs anything on your laptop.
What you get
- The starter kit. One zip with everything already written, plus a finished demo trainer with made-up games, so you can see it working before you add yours.
- Claude as your guide. Type start to build it, rerun each week, and help if you get stuck.
- An interactive course. Click through every step with a copy button, a tick box and screenshots, and it remembers your progress. It opens from the kit with a double-click.
- A PDF guide to keep as a reference. The last part explains how every piece works, for people who code.
- The trainer you build. It runs on your own laptop, and it's yours.
What your finished trainer does
- Drills from your own games, with the board turned so you play your own colour.
- Stockfish runs inside the page. Play a wrong move and it shows their best reply.
- A personal Focus list. Your biggest leak goes to the top, ranked by how much win chance each kind of mistake cost you.
- 12 habit numbers, tracked over time.
- Missed drills come back after 10 minutes, then after 1, 3, 7 and 14 days.
- A replay of every checked game, with a win chance graph.
- Opening gyms for the early attacks that cost games at club level.
Every week
Play about 10 new games, then type rerun. Claude checks only your new games, adds new drills and updates your numbers.
Your Focus list then re-orders itself from your newest mistakes, so you always work on what is costing you most right now.
On your phone (optional)
Claude can help you put your trainer online with a free host such as Vercel or Netlify, then install it on your phone like an app.
Putting it online uploads your game data, including your opponents' usernames. On Vercel you can keep it private, so only people you give access can open it. A Netlify Drop link is public.
What isn't included
A Claude subscription, a hosted account, coaching, or a promise that your rating goes up. You build and run the trainer yourself, with Claude's help.
Every screenshot comes from the demo, a made-up player with made-up games.
This is an independent product. It isn't affiliated with or endorsed by Anthropic, chess.com, lichess, Stockfish, Vercel or Netlify.
I built the first version for my own games, because I kept losing to the same few mistakes and random puzzles weren't fixing them. This kit lets you build yours.
£9.99. Instant download. The starter kit (zip) and the PDF guide.
Refunds. This is a digital download, so when you buy you ask for it straight away, and you lose your 14-day right to cancel once it is available. If a file is faulty or won't open, email info@shlc-tutor.co.uk and we'll fix it or refund you.
Who this is for
Chess players on chess.com or lichess who keep losing to the same few mistakes and want puzzles from their own games. No programming knowledge needed, because Claude walks you through it. People who code get a technical part that explains every piece.
